I'm Leslie Billman

My grandfather was a real photographer.  He shot on black and white film in the days when digital didn't exist.  He had a full darkroom in his basement and taught me to use the equipment.  

By the time I was 14, I had my own darkroom and camera and made my first photo income by setting the camera on a tripod in front of the tv, taking pictures of the Beatles performing on the Ed Sullivan Show.  

I developed the film, enlarged the tv out of the images, and printed closeups of John, Paul, George, and Ringo, which i sold at school for extortionist prices.  I became interested in sports photography and to this day, I spend summers shooting in the photo pit of professional tennis events such as the US Open. I discovered that sports photo skills are transferable to photographing moving wildlife.  Living on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay has provided incredible opportunities  for photographing soaring birds, and life on the water.  

Aerial views of the bay and its tributaries  offer a revealing and thrilling perspective of the landscapes and its wild occupants. Please enjoy my work as much as I enjoy producing it!
